Since pre-Inca times, salt has been obtained in Maras by evaporating salty water (provided by a nearby subterranean stream) in the sun, leaving the salt behind. In the mines there are thousands of salt-pools. The Sacred Valley of the Incas or Urubamba Valley is a valley in the Andes of Peru, close to the Inca capital of Cusco and below the ancient sacred city of Machu Picchu. The valley is generally understood to include everything between Pisac and Ollantaytambo, parallel to the Urubamba River, or Vilcanota River or Wilcamayu, as this Sacred river is called when passing through the valley. It is fed by numerous rivers which descend through adjoining valleys and gorges, and contains numerous archaeological remains and villages. The valley was appreciated by the Incas due to its special geographical and climatic qualities. It was one of the empire's main points for the extraction of natural wealth, and the best place for maize production in Peru.http://bem.2be.pl/IS/bolivia_380.jpg

Terraced fields in Sapa, Vietnam, are a stunning and unique landscape feature, renowned for their beauty and agricultural significance. Nestled in the mountainous region of northern Vietnam, Sapa's terraced fields are primarily cultivated by the ethnic minority groups such as the Hmong, Dao, and Tay people.\n\nThese terraces are ingeniously carved into the mountainsides, creating a series of steps that follow the natural contours of the land. This method of farming is not only visually striking but also highly practical, allowing farmers to maximize arable land in a region characterized by steep slopes and uneven terrain. The terraces help in reducing soil erosion and managing water efficiently, making them ideal for rice cultivation.
