Whitestreak Monocle Bream Scolopsis ciliata occurs in the tropical Indo-West Pacific in the Andaman Sea, Ryukyu Islands, Philippines, Indonesia, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu, often in small groups, in a depth range from 2-25m, max. length 25cm. \nThe species inhabits sandy bottoms close to coral reefs and occurs also near mangroves, feeding on benthic invertebrates and small fishes.\nTriton Bay, Indonesia 3°54'59.586 S 134°6'6.474 E at 3m depth

Shadowfin Soldierfish Myripristis adusta occurs in the tropical Indo-Pacific, usually inhabits coral-rich areas of drop-offs and steep channel slopes from below the effects of surge to over 25 m. They occur singly or in small groups, sometimes with other species. It is a nocturnal species hiding in caves or beneath ledges by day, feeds on plankton such as crab larvae at night. Max. length 35cm, common 25cm. It is quite unusual to encounter this species over an open bright area like this specimen. Palau, Micronesia, 7°16'15.98 N 134°14'44.12 E at 19m depth

A male brown - throated sunbird is perching on a small pedicel of ixora flower.
Streaked Spinefoot Siganus javus occurs in the tropical Indopacific Ocean from the Persian Gulf to southern China, Australia to Vanuata and New Caledonia in a depth range from 0-20m, max. length 53cm, common 30cm. The common name Rabbitfish is given by the similarity of the nose. \nThe species occurs in small schools of as many as ten individuals feeding on benthic algae.  The streaked spinefoot has grooves in the spines of the dorsal, anal and pelvic fins which contain venom glands. The wound caused by these spines may be relatively painful to humans but is usually not dangerous. The spines are used in self-defense.   Rabbitfish venom is similar to venom of stonefish. Siganus javus, sold as fresh fish, is caught using nets and fixed traps. \nThis specimen was encountered at 12m depth in the Triton Bay, Indonesia, 3°53'36.5662 S 134°6'21.5963 E
