A few rays of sunlight cut an intense blue sky above the statue of an Angel along the Ponte Sant'Angelo (Saint Angel bridge), in the historic and baroque heart of Rome. This bridge was built under the emperor Hadrian in 134 AD. to connect the heart of Rome with his mausoleum, currently Castel Sant'Angelo. A few centuries later, under the pontificate of Pope Clement IX, the architect and sculptor Giovanni Lorenzo Bernini was commissioned to create the current balustrade decorated with ten statues of the Angels of the Passion of Christ. According to tradition, it was Bernini's pupils who sculpted the statues of the Angels in 1669. In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. A stunning sunset light envelops the silhouette of the statue of the emperor Trajan along the Fori Imperiali boulevard, in the ancient heart of Rome. This bronze statue, placed in front of the Trajan's Forum, is a copy of the original marble preserved in the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, made in the first century AD. and found in the city of Minturno during some archaeological excavations. In the background the silhouette of the National Monument of the Altare della Patria, in Piazza Venezia square. The Altare della Patria is the scene of all the official Italian civic celebrations, in particular the Republic Day on June 2 and the Liberation Day on April 25. The Austrian Parliament building is a Greek revival style building, constructed from 1874 to 1883. This palace has not only a political importance (here the Parliament of Austria conducts the sittings), but it has also a high tourist relevance, thanks to the Pallas-Athene Fountain (Pallas-Athene-Brunnen) which stands in front of it.
