Listed as Grade II in 1952, and owned by the Brighton city council, this beautiful building is today deserted and has no use other than a historical curiosity. Located in Queen's Park area, it was designed and built in 1830 by architect Charles Barry in what was once the estate for the villa of the owner of Queen's Park. Its many uses over the centuries have been as a printing house for the Brighton Daily Mail; a lookout tower in World War 2; a scout headquarters; an artist’s studio, and - in a final humiliation - as public toilets.
