Snow geese migrate from the north to warmer climates during the winter months. The geese fly very high and migrating in large numbers along narrow corridors. This flock were seen flying in the fog in an early morning sunrise at Bosque Del Apache, NM.

As incoming sunlight passes through a more dense atmosphere, shorter wavelengths of light violet and blue are efficiently scattered away by particles suspended in the atmosphere. This allows predominantly yellow and red wavelengths of light to reach the observer's eyes, producing a yellowish-red sunset.

This winter home to Sandhill cranes, snow geese and other birds/animals. From late October tp late January, sandhill cranes move among several areas throughout the day to feed, rest, and socialize. Social behavior includes at least 10 different types of calls, various threatening postures, and elaborate dances for everything from joy to courtship. Sandhills get their name from the sand hills of Nebraska where they spend a lot of time north of the Platte and North Platte rivers.
