A suggestive perspective of the rear side of the Tempietto in the courtyard of the church of San Pietro in Montorio, located on the Janiculum hill in the historic district of Trastevere, in the heart of Rome. Built in 1510 by the architect Donato Bramante, the Tempietto (Small Temple) is considered a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture, with the search for a perfect balance of shapes and volumes. The circular plan and the relationship between the dome and the colonnade recalls the classical values of Roman architecture, such as the famous Temple of Vesta located in the Roman Forum. According to tradition, the Tempietto was built to celebrate the martyrdom of St. Peter, which supposedly took place on the Janiculum. Trastevere is an iconic district of the Eternal City, due to the presence of countless artistic and historical treasures, monuments and ancient Romanesque and Baroque churches, but also for its squares and alleys to be explored freely, where it is easy to find typical restaurants, pubs, small shops of artisans and scenes of daily life with the original Roman soul. In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Super wide angle and high definition image.

An impressive wide view inside the dome of the Pantheon, in the heart of Ancient Rome. Built in 27 BC by the Consul Marco Vispanio Agrippa for the Emperor Augustus and dedicated to all the Roman divinities, the majestic Pantheon is one of the best preserved Roman structures in the Eternal City and in the world. In addition to being one of the most famous Roman buildings in the world, the Pantheon is also a Catholic church consecrated in 609 AD by Pope Bonficio IV and called the Basilica of Santa Maria ad Martyres. Within its perimeter some members of the Italian royal family and famous artists are buried, including the painter Raphael, a great protagonist of Renaissance art. The dome of the Pantheon, built in concrete and brick, is a masterpiece of engineering and the prototype of all the domes subsequently built in Christian churches in Europe. With a diameter of 43.44 meters, it is still the largest dome in the world today. In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Super wide angle image in high definition format.
A cathedral is the seat of the bishop and a centre of worship and mission. The primary purpose of a cathedral is to be a place of Christian worship but it is also often the oldest building in continuous use in its surrounding area and of significance to the heritage, culture and community life of the area it serves.
Architectural detail of the ceiling of the coffered dome of the Pantheon. The Pantheon ('to every god') in the Piazza della Rotonda in Rome, Italy was built by Marcus Agrippa in 27 BC and rebuilt by Emperor Hadrian in about 126 AD. The concrete for the coffered dome was poured in moulds, probably mounted on temporary scaffolding. The oculus (round opening on top of the dome) is the main source of natural light.
