The traditional Chinese incense burner has a lion's head
This is a Japanese incense burning timepiece. Seven pairs of brass strike balls, below the dragon, are suspended on silk threads. Incense inside the body of the dragon burns slowly at the rate of two inches an hour. As the fire burns through the silk thread, it causes the balls to fall to the gong beneath the dragon, thus sounding the hours. On wood base 7 1/4 x 3 3/4 x 7/8 inches.
