On hiking trail to Yubeng 2003. Yubeng has become a famous tourist destination. However, Chuka Lake, remains a difficult place for ordinary tourists to reach.\nChuka Lake is located in the Yubeng beside the Menzim Peak (goddess peak) snow mountain halfway, 4400 m asl, is the Yubeng villager's sacred lake. Because the altitude is too high and the snow is very thick in winter and spring, the villagers only come to worship the sacred lake in summer.\nAt the beginning of this May, with a guide, we trekked and crawled through the snow to reach Chunka Sacred Lake. The rock ptarmigan (Lagopus muta) is a medium-sized gamebird in the grouse family. The Rock ptarmigan can be found in most areas in the arctic. The subspecies L.m.hyperborea is only found in Svalbard and Franz Josef Land. In Svalbard, the ptarmigan occurs everywhere except the northeasternmost parts of the archipelago. It is the only bird that remains on land during the whole year and does not migrate to open water or southwards. The Rock ptarmigan is 35-40 cm long and 490-1200 g in weight. Rock ptarmigans moult three times a year. White during the winter, brownish summer plumage. The male always has a red stripe above the eye.
