Radios, receivers, transmitters, phones and maps were all crucial to the Allied forces advances throughout the second world war. Being in contact with other elements of your army could not be taken for granted, with radios being prone to malfunction, phone lines often being cut and communications always liable to be tapped by the enemy. However, with maps and clear communications, attacks could be orchestrated, or fire support from artillery could be called in.\n\nThis image was taken at an outdoor event in the summer of 2023, where reenactors, living historians, and members of the public can come to experience what life was like during the second world war, with live demonstrations, battle reenactments, and static displays from all over the world.
