A suggestive sunset light warms the roofs and the skyline of Gualdo Tadino, a medieval town near Gubbio, in the Italian region of Umbria. An important city since Roman times, Gualdo Tadino rises along the ancient consular Via Salaria, traced by the Romans. Its history runs throughout the Middle Ages and, despite having been partially destroyed and sacked numerous times and placed under the dominion of Perugia, this ancient Umbrian center still retains its medieval charm. The Umbria region, considered the green lung of Italy for its wooded mountains, is characterized by a perfect integration between nature and the presence of man, in a context of environmental sustainability and healthy life. In addition to its immense artistic and historical heritage, Umbria is famous for its food and wine production and for the high quality of the olive oil produced in these lands. The beautiful facade of the Cathedral or Duomo of Santa Maria Assunta in the historic heart of Pesaro, a town on the Adriatic coast of Italy in the Marche region. Built in the 12th century, the Cathedral of Pesaro stands on a previous temple from the Peleo-Christian era of which some mosaics are preserved. The Romanesque-Gothic style facade is unfinished and has a simple ogival portal. Known as the City of Music and the City of the Bicycle, Pesaro was founded by the Piceni people during the Iron Age, to develop as an important center on the Adriatic Sea under the rule of Ancient Rome and later in the Middle Ages. Pesaro is known and loved in the world of music and opera for being the birthplace of the composer Gioachino Rossini (1792-1868), author of works such as The Barber of Seville, Guillaume Tell and La Gazza Ladra.
