An Arctic Tern (Sterna paradisaea) on a perch south of Anchorage Alaska. The Arctic Tern breeds in the arctic regions around the world and winters in the Antarctic, making at least a 19,000 km (12,000 mi) flight between the two twice a year, mostly over open ocean; thus, this bird has the longest migration and sees more daylight than any animal on earth.
