Primula malacoides, also called Fairy primrose and Baby primrose, is a species in the genus Primula which contains approximately 364 to 916 species and belongs to the Primrose Family. Primula malacoides has been a favorite container plant, dating back to the early 1900s, especially because it can be grown indoors and flowers during the late winter and early spring. It is a rosette forming, upright, ever green perennial that is usually grown as an annual. Primula malacoides is good planted in rock garden, used as a bedding plant and in containers.

Primula japonica, native to Japan and commonly known as Japanese Primrose, is deciduous perennial with attractive flowers in shades of pink, red, white and purple, which bloom from late spring to early summer.
