Here we have a rare shot of a family interacting. The Piping Plover, or Charadrius Melodus is a sparrow-sized, camouflaged, coastal waterbird and a threatened species that came close to extinction. The piping plover is a migrating shorebird that nests along the Atlantic coast and the Great Lakes of the United States. The bird is federally protected by critical habitat designations and management. The piping plover is a pale colored bird with light grey plumage and orange legs. Piping Plover protection and bird conservation is a hot topic once beaches open on the east coast. Mandated plover enclosures are erected to protect the plover habitat and nesting regions. Wildlife officials and the federal government work to protect the Piping Plover against natural predators and humans through education and management.
