Dutchman's Breeches (Dicentra cucullaria) is a wildflower also known as: White Breeches, Bleeding Heart, Soldier Cap, White Hearts, Eardrops, Monks Head, Butterfly Banners, Kitten Breeches, Bachelors Breeches, Little Boys Breeches, Staggerweed, or Little Staggers. The latter two names come from the plants ability to cause staggering in the animals that eat it. This is due to narcotic and toxic substances in the poppy-related plant.
Dicentra canadensis, or squirrel corn, is a herbaceous plant in the poppy family with white heart-shaped flowers, native to deciduous woodland in eastern North America. Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee.

Indian pipes (Monotropa uniflora), a wildflower not a mushroom, in the New England forest in midsummer. With one pendant flower on each stem, this is one of the few plants that lack chlorophyll (which makes plants green). It can live in dark forests because it needs no sunlight for photosynthesis. It survives by parasitizing certain fungi, trees and decomposing plants. Also called ghost plant.
