The overlapping borders of the Mojave and the Colorado (Sonoran) deserts are a competition ground for Pre Contact Species, especially as Spring begins to warm the land after a particularly wet Winter. Among the organisms to be visualized is a beautiful wildflower with small purple blossoms known to botany as Phacelia Crenulata and commonly as Notch Leaf Scorpion Weed. Observing native ecology in the locale is only possible because of laws protecting the Reserve. Long may it remain respected and intact for future generations.

Boundary Cone Butte, elevation 3429, is a volcanic neck in the foothills of the Black Mountains of Mohave County, Arizona, USA. The butte is on the historic Route 66 near Oatman, Arizona, about 14 miles east of the Colorado River. Boundary Cone was a prominent landmark to pioneers traveling through the area. The butte is also an important religious and cultural symbol to native tribes in the area. In the early Spring, the meadows surrounding the butte are filled with the colorful orange California Poppy.
