Karanlk Kilise, or the Dark Church, was a monastic compound built in the 11th century.  It is decorated with scenes from the New Testament:  Christ Pantocrator, Nativity, Adoration of the Magi, First Bath, Last Supper, Betrayal of Judas, Crucifixion, Anastasis. Rome, Italy, January 26 - A detail of the Gothic ciborium that surmounts the main altar inside the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano, dedicated to St. John the Evangelist and St. John the Baptist. This Basilica, built on the Celian hill since the 4th century in the early Christian era, is also known as the Cathedral of Rome and is the most important and ancient basilica in the Western world. Inside the apse a series of magnificent Byzantine mosaics depicting the Emperor Constantine, while the central nave was designed in the Baroque period by the architect Francesco Borromini. Saint King Louis 9th created Sainte Chapelle in 1248 to house Christian relics, including Christ's Crown of Thorns.  Stained Glass created in the 13th Century and shows various biblical stories along wtih medieval stories from 1200s.
