Stonehaven, Scotland - September 2th, 2013: Dunnottar castle is a ruined medieval fortress lying on a rocky outcrop just south of Stonehaven in north east Scotland.

This was the site of one of the earliest Roman forts built against Saxon raids on the 'Saxon Shore'. It later became the site of an Anglo-Saxon monastery before becoming the parish church for Reculver. The tall towers were built in a remodelling of the church in the 12th century.

Blarney Castle was built by the MacCarthy of Muskerry dynasty and dates from 1446. Situated 8km from Cork City, this historic castle is most famous for its stone, which has the traditional power of conferring eloquence on all who kiss it. The stone is set in the wall below the battlements, and to kiss it one has to lean backwards (grasping an iron railing) from the parapet walk.

Pevencey, England - August 27, 2021: Pevensey Castle is a medieval castle and former Roman Saxon Shore fort at Pevensey in the English county of East Sussex.

Duffus, Elgin, Moray, Scotland - May 5th 2022 - The castle is situated on the Laich of Moray, a fertile plain that was once the swampy foreshore of Spynie Loch. This was originally a more defensive position than it appears today, long after the loch was drained.

Hore Abbey, Ireland’s last medieval Cistercian monastery, was founded in 1272 in County Tipperary, just west of Cashel. It was colonised by monks from Mellifont Abbey and comprised a cruciform church, tower, square cloister, and living quarters.

The entrance of Tonbridge Castle in Kent, England. After William the Conqueror took England at the Battle of Hastings in 1066, his kinsman Richard Fitz Gilbert was tasked with guarding the crossing of the River Medway. He built a simple Motte-and-bailey castle. The castle was later besieged in 1088 when Fitz Gilber's descendants rebelled against William's son, King William II. The king had the castle and Tonbridge burnt to the ground in revenge. By 1100, a new wooden castle was replaced with a stone shell keep and in 1295 a stone wall encircled the town. The castle was used to safekeep the great seal of England for a while when King Edward I visited France. In 1793, the mansion was built, and both buildings are now Grade I listed.
