Rome, Italy - May 12, 2018: The Basilica of the Sacred Heart is located in the Castro Pretorio district, near Termini Station and was built between 1879 and 1887 at the behest of Pope Pius IX who, in 1870, laid the foundation stone of the new building. However, due to the annexation of Rome to the Kingdom of Italy, the work was interrupted; it was only thanks to San Giovanni Bosco that construction could be resumed in 1880 and completed in 1887 by the architect Francesco Vespignani. East Doors (Gates of Paradise) by Lorenzo Ghiberti on Florence Baptistery (Battistero di San Giovanni) in Tuscany, Italy. These doors consist of 10 panels depicting scenes from the Old Testament and were commissioned in 1424. Once completed, they were described by Michelangelo as being fit to be the 'gates of paradise'. The doors displayed are now a copy of the original, with those being displayed in a local museum.

Rome, Italy, October 22 -- The Contarelli chapel with the painting by Caravaggio of the Vocation of Saint Matthew in the church of San Luigi dei Francesi, near Piazza Navona. The painting was made by the artist between 1599 and 1600. Built between 1518 and 1589 on a project by the architect Giacomo Della Porta, the church of San Luigi was consecrated on 8 October 1589.
