It is located on Medvednica mountain near Zagreb at Veliki Plazur mountain top. This neo-gothic chapel was built in 1847 in a place of a much older wooden chapel which had been destroyed in a fire. The old chapel was dedicated to St. Barbara who was considered the patron saint of miners all over Europe in the Middle Ages. This small prayer chapel was frequently visited by miners from the Zrinski mine who prayed to the patron every day in fear of mine collapse, flood or fire. According to some sources, this chapel was built after the fall of Medvedgrad, i.e. after the destruction of the Chapel of St. Philip and Jacob.
