Aerial view of the typical village of the Karamojong (or Karimojong) people in the North east of Uganda, right at the border to South Sudan and also close to the border to Kenya. The region is called Karamoja. \n\nThe Karamojong are a Nilotic ethnic group and according to anthropologists, the Karamojong are part of a group that migrated from present-day Ethiopia around 1600 A.D. The main livelihood activity of the Karamojong is still  herding livestock, while cultivation of crop is only a secondary activity.

He was a Governor General of French West Africa (1908–1915) who particularly interested himself in the economic development and education of Africa.
