Ancient Babylonia and Assyria sculpture painting from Mesopotamia
Memphis, Egypt - October 28, 2023: The ruins of ancient Memphis have yielded a large number of sculptures representing Rameses II. Within the museum in Memphis is a giant statue of him carved in monumental limestone, about 10 metres in length. It was discovered in 1820 near the southern gate of the temple of Ptah by Italian archaeologist Giovanni Caviglia. Because the base and feet of the sculpture are broken off from the rest of the body, it is currently displayed lying on its back.

Perspolis, Iran- May 26, 2010: Iran is a somehow mysterious country in people' eye but a desirable travel destination for its long history. Persepolis, 60km north to Shiraz, was once the ceremonial capital of the great Persian empire of the Achaemenid kings. Persepolis is a mirror of the magnificent ancient history and culture of Iran. Here is beautiful relief (sculpture) in the remains of the anicent Imperial Palace in Perspolis.
One of the great wonders of the ancient world, Persepolis embodies not just a grand architectural scheme but also a grand idea. It was conceived by Darius the Great who, in 520 BC, inherited the responsibility for ruling the world's first known empire founded by his predecessor, Cyrus the Great. Embracing tenets such as cultural tolerance and fair treatment of all subjects, Darius sought to reflect these concepts in the design of the magnificent palace complex at Persepolis, inviting architects from the furthest corner of the Persian Empire to contribute to its construction. The result is an eclectic set of structures, including monumental staircases, exquisite reliefs and imposing gateways, that testified to the expanse of Darius' domain.
