Havana, Cuba - December 13, 2014: Cuban sailors stand on deck as their ship, a Rio Damuji class frigate, sails out of Havana Harbor. The largest warship in the Cuban Navy, it was built from old Spanish fishing trawlers.
One crew member is raising two maritime flags, while the other watches or assists, on the bridge of USS Canberra (LCS 30), an Independence Class combat ship of the US Navy which is docked at Garden Island in Sydney Harbour.  She was in port for her commissioning ceremony on 22 July 2023.  As part of the ceremony, her captain was presented with a kangaroo insignia attached to all ships of the Royal Australian Navy, but decorated in the colours and design of the Stars and Stripes.  That insignia has been attached to the ship and visible on the right.  The name of the ship and serial number is visible on the orange life ring.  A large, padded chair is visible on the bridge. Totoaba poachers arriving in San Felipe after a day of illegally fishing in the Alto Golfo de California, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, where it's not only forbidden to fish but highly illegal to do it with nets left overnight that kill other species and drown all kinds of marine mammals. All of the while, under the watchful gaze of \na Mexican Navy ship that has been posted to the area to enforce the protection of this area. They don't fish for food but for the highly sought-after totoaba swim bladder or Maws as it's called in mainland China and Hong Kong black markets, where large maws reportedly earn up to $47,000 in local black markets, according to the investigative NGO Elephant Action League (EAL).

Malé, Maldives: Coast Guard vessel moored, T702 Iskandhar fast patrol boat - Coastal surveillance vessel under the National Security Service - Colombo class Ultra Fast Attack Craft (UFAC), built in Sri Lanka by Colombo Dockyard Limited, using and Israeli design, the boats are meant for a variety of naval missions from off-shore coastal patrol missions to high-speed, high-maneuver littoral warfare. The Maldivian Coast Guard is the naval or maritime arm of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). As the Maldives does not have a navy, the Coast Guard also functions as such.
