The facility runs tests to study sounds emitted from a vessel while at idle in the docking bay and within the underway site, which is the area between Betton Island and Helm Bay and extends north to Point Francis. SEAFAC runs tests on both submarine and surface ships. Results are used to further develop and advance stealth technology.
