Djègbadji, Ouidah commune, Atlantique Department, Benin: Djègbadji Lagoon is a coastal body of water near Djègbadji, close to Ouidah in southern Benin, surrounded by rich mangrove ecosystems. These mangroves play a crucial role in maintaining the health of the lagoon, acting as natural buffers against coastal erosion and providing habitats for diverse marine life, particularly fish and crustaceans. The local communities rely heavily on the lagoon for fishing and salt production, both of which benefit from the protection and biodiversity supported by the mangroves. In addition to their ecological importance, the lagoon and its mangroves are also of interest for eco-tourism, highlighting the need for sustainable conservation efforts in the area.
