Midwinter flower buds and foliage of the Australian Aromo Tree, sometimes called the Silver Wattle, (Acacia dealbata). There are at least six different species of Acacia Tree called “Aromo” in Chile, with ‘dealbata’ being an import from Australia some time in the last two hundred years. They bloom very early in spring and are used as cattle forage (leaves and seeds), wood (for charcoal) and as a favourite source of nectar among bee-keepers.

The photo shows butterfly sucking nectar of pentas lanceolata flowers. The butterfly in the photo is papilio maackii, also called Chinese peacock, papilio bianor and papilio dehaanii, which is a species of swallowtail, which can be found in East Asia and other parts of Asia.\nPentas lanceolata, also called Egyptian star clusters or star flower, is native from Yemen to East Africa. It blooms all summer long to autumn frost, with clusters of starry flowers. The color of flower ranges from red, pink, lilac and white. It is one of the best butterfly-attracting flowers.

Lantana camara, commonly called lantana or shrub verbena, also known as big-sage, red-sage, white-sage and tick berry, is a species of flowering plant, which is native to Central and South America and has spread to the world. It bears small tubular shaped flowers, which each have four petals forming clusters. The blooming time is from early summer to autumn in temperate areas. Flowers come in many different colors, including red, yellow, white, pink, orange and purple.\nThe butterfly in the photo is Argyreus hyperbius, which is also called Indian fritillary.
