Mountain laurel thicket in subdued light, deep in the woods of Mount Tom State Park in Connecticut. An evergreen shrub in the heath family, mountain laurel is Connecticut's and Pennsylvania's state flower, and Mount Tom is one of the oldest Connecticut state parks.
