Hydrated and de-hydrated pollen grains (Stellaria graminea). All living pollen grains are able to absorb and release water. Thus, each grain can exist in either of two morphologically different states, the de-hydrated and the hydrated condition. S. graminea is a common plant of waysides, hedgerows and open woodlands. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM), magnified x1500 when printed at 10cm wide.
Yeast cells - 3d rendered image SEM (scanning electron micrograph) view of cells of brewer's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). It is used in the production of beer, wine and bread.
Pollen is a powdery substance produced by most types of flowers of seed plants for the purpose of sexual reproduction. It consists of pollen grains (highly reduced microgametophytes), which produce male gametes (sperm cells). Pollen grains have a hard coat made of sporopollenin that protects the gametophytes during the process of their movement from the stamens to the pistil of flowering plants, or from the male cone to the female cone of gymnosperms.
Aspergillus fumigatus is one of the most common Aspergillus species to cause disease in individuals with an immunodeficiency. This pathogen primarily causes invasive infection in the lung.

Candida albicans is a species of yeast, a single-celled fungus that reproduces asexually, with daughter cells budding from parent cells. C. albicans is normally harmless and is commonly found on the skin and mucous membranes of the mouth, digestive and respiratory tracts and the vagina. Antibiotic treatment or compromised immune function may, however, lead to C. albicans infection. Common candida infections include oral and vaginal thrush. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM), magnified x4900 when printed at 10cm wide.

The salivary glands in mammals are exocrine glands that produce saliva through a system of ducts. Humans have three paired major salivary glands parotid, submandibular, and sublingual, as well as hundreds of minor salivary glands.Salivary glands can be classified as serous, mucous, or seromucous mixed.

Paramecium are widespread in freshwater, brackish, and marine environments and are often abundant in stagnant basins and ponds.
Campylobacter jejuni is in a genus of bacteria that is among the most common causes of bacterial infections in humans worldwide.

Pollen grains from a variety of plants. Pollen grain size, shape and surface texture differ from one plant species to another. The pollen grains contain a male gamete (reproductive cell) that is intended to fertilise an egg or ovule (female gamete). This will initiate the formation of a seed for a new plant. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM), magnified x250 when printed at 10cm wide.

Bone marrow, stem cells of human bone marrow stem cells. These cells are known as multipotential stem cells because they form the precursors to every type of blood cell. During blood cell development the multipotential stem cell develops by a process known as haemopoiesis into either red blood cells or one of three types of white blood cell (granulocytes, lymphocytes or monocytes).
