The Baipu Temple, 2 hours drive-way from the city center, is hidden between mountains and forests and was built in the early Liao Dynasty, about 900 years ago. The surroundings are beautiful, but what brings the most attention are the temple’s outdoor religious buildings with their unique shapes, and are considered the most surrealist temple in Beijing. The temple is named “White Waterfall Temple” because of its backing two waterfalls. In its heyday, the number of monks in Baipu Temple reached 100.
