Bogota, Colombia - July 20, 2016: Local Colombian people and a few tourists are seen enjoying the small square called Chorro de Quevedo in the La Candelaria district of Bogotá, the Andean capital city of the South American country of Colombia. It is here that the Spanish Conquistador, Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada founded the city in 1538. It is also from this Square that the Zipa, or Chief of the Muisca tribe, viewed the Sabana de Bogotá regularly. In 1832 the site was purchased by the Augustinian priest, Father Quevedo, who installed the public water fountain on the Square. Photo shot on an overcast morning; horizontal format.

Cemetery Day of the Dead -Janitzio Island in Michoacan, Mexico, is only accessible by boats from Patzcuaro pier. The town is located atop a hill, over 5,000 steps to get to the atop. A 40-meter statue of Jose Maria Morelos, a great hero of Mexico’s independence, started in 1933, is found on the island’s highest point. Some of the people are of indigenous descent and are known as Purepecha. These photos were taken during its main festival, Day of the Dead (El Dia de los Muertos). The town is also known for their butterfly fisherman.
