Rome, Italy, August 13 -- A marble warning plaque affixed in 1733 along via dei Cappellari, an alley in the Campo de Fiori district, in the heart of Rome. The peculiar text, written in Italian, forbids any person to throw rubbish along the alley, under penalty of paying five coins and even corporal punishment, according to the edict of the road manager issued on August 14, 1733. The Campo de Fiori district is an area of the Eternal City much loved and visited by tourists and residents for the presence of ancient churches and noble palaces and for the countless Renaissance and Baroque artistic and cultural treasures. Around Campo de Fiori, in the ancient Rione Parione (Parione district), you can explore dozens of characteristic alleys, with typical restaurants, pubs and pizzerias, where you can discover the essence and soul of Roman life. In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Image in high definition quality.
