The Obelisk of Luxor’s red granite column is 75 feet tall including the base and weighs over 250 tons.

On September 26, 1981, President François Mitterrand formally returned the title of the second obelisk to Egypt. The obelisk once marked the entrance to the Luxor Temple.$

The Obelisk or Theodosius Obelisk is an Ancient Egyptian obelisk located on the south side of Sultanahmet Square, next to the Serpent Column. It was brought from Egypt by the Roman emperor Theodosius I in 390 AD and erected in its current place.
