From W and C Europe to W Asia.\n\nThis is a rare Species in the Netherlands. The Picture is made in my Garden Pond.\nThe Plant is Poisonous but in the past used as Herbal Medicine.

Very variable, low to short, softly hairy annual or biennial , branched at the base. Basal leaves in a lax rosette, elliptical, broadest above the middle, scarcely stalked; stem leaves lanceolate, pointed. Flowers bright gray-blue, saucer shaped, 3-5mm; calyx closed in fruit, the tube with numerous hooked hairs. Nutlets dark brownish-black.\nHabitat: Dry places, arable soils, dunes, to 2000m.\nFlowering Season: April-October.\nDistribution: Throughout Europe, except Spitsbergen.\n\nThis is a common Species in the Netherlands.
