Fritillaria imperialis is a bulbous herbaceous perennial, which features a beautiful display of orange-red pendant, bell-shaped flowers, blooming in mid to late spring. Indian pipes (Monotropa uniflora), a wildflower not a mushroom, in the New England forest in midsummer.
