Old town street, monument, old building
The history of this church (correctly named Royal Parish of the St Johns) goes back to the mid-13th century when it was built in Gothic style on top of the site of a mosque. It was badly damaged by several fires through the centuries, particularly in 1592, when the facade was rebuilt in flamboyant baroque style, as seen here. The church suffered interior fire damage, including to frescoes, during the Spanish Civil War in 1936-9.
