Over 100 groups of dancers participate in the festival, which proceed dancing on the main streets around JR Koenji Station in the evening.\nAwa Dance Festival, which originated, and takes place during August 12-15, in Tokushima City of Shikoku Island, is now widely practiced in many parts of Japan. By moving arms and legs freely, men express braveness and humor and women express elegance and amorousness.\nAwa Dance Festival is one of the three most famous Bon Dance Festivals in Japan and has a history of over 400 years.
