Old wooden stocks and whipping post in the village of Ufford in Suffolk, Eastern England. Stocks (which restrained only the feet) and whipping posts were used for crimes such as drunkenness, petty theft, disobedience (servants), Sabbath breaking, gambling, vagrancy, wife beating - and even travelling musicians and fortune tellers could find themselves chained in the stocks and being pelted with unsavoury items!
