Boston, Massachusetts, USA - May 17, 2023: A statue of John Glover is installed on the Commonwealth Avenue Mall, between Berkeley and Clarendon Streets in Boston's Back Bay neighborhood. John Glover (1732 - 1797) was a Revolutionary War hero who helped Washington cross the Delaware and whose brigade helped give the Marines their name. Glovers left leg is perched on a cannon barrel in a defiant gesture of conquest. Martin Milmore sculpted the piece in 1875.
