The Michaelerplatz (English: St. Michael's Square) is a major square in the center of Vienna. It is a baroque, star-shaped square that functions as the point of intersection of several inner-city streets – the Kohlmarkt, the Herrengasse, the Schauflergasse, and the Reitschulgasse – as well as the northeast entry point to the Hofburg. The square is named after St. Michael's Church, which lies on the eastern part of the Michaelerplatz.

Detail of the Arc de Triomphe. The Arc de Triomphe is one of the most famous monuments in Paris, France, standing at the western end of the Champs-Élysées at the centre of Place Charles de Gaulle. The Arc de Triomphe honours those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces. Above the volunteers is the winged personification of Liberty. This group served as a recruitment tool in the early months of World War I and encouraged the French to invest in war loans in 1915–1916.

The Austrian Parliament building is a Greek revival style building, constructed from 1874 to 1883. This palace has not only a political importance (here the Parliament of Austria conducts the sittings), but it has also a high tourist relevance, thanks to the Pallas-Athene Fountain (Pallas-Athene-Brunnen) which stands in front of it. This wonderful example of artwork was created between 1893 and 1902 to give an allegorical representation of the four most important rivers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Winged horse statue in Art Deco style. Gendarmenmarkt is a square in Berlin and the site of an architectural ensemble including the Konzerthaus (concert hall) and the French and German Churches. In the centre of the square stands a monumental statue of Germany's renowned poet Friedrich Schiller. The square was created by Johann Arnold Nering at the end of the seventeenth century as the Linden-Markt and reconstructed by Georg Christian Unger in 1773.
