The medal was awarded in 1865. After becoming the second woman in the U.S. to earn a medical degree   she volunteered for the Union Army, serving near the front lines as a field surgeon for several years. Archaeological excavations near the Mausoleum of Augustus. The imposing mausoleum of Augustus, also called Augusteo, was the funerary monument of the emperor Augustus. Undergoing a long restoration, it should open to the public in March 2021. The mausoleum, built starting from 28 BC. it stood in the northern part of the Campo Marzio and was one of the wonders of imperial Rome.
