Gettysburg, Maryland, USA -- August 8, 2015:  The 152nd reenactment of the battle that took place in Gettysburg Pennsylvania on July 1, 2 and 3, 1863.  This reenactment is normally held around  the first three days of July but, because of heavy rains prior to those dates, the reenactment was postponed to August 7, 8 and 9.  These photos are from the final day of the reenactment when the battle commonly known as Picketts Charge took place.  In that battle, Confederate General Robert E Lee sent his troops across a long field toward the Union General George Meade's troops positioned behind a stone wall.  The Confederates briefly broke through the Union line, but could not hold it and suffered many, many casualties.  This was the final battle of Gettysburg and on July 4, General Lee began withdrawing his army toward the Potomac River, thus concluding the Battle of Gettysburg.
