Arch of Constantine - Rome - Italy
A delicate light illuminates a beautiful glimpse of the Roman Forum seen from the gardens of the Palatine Hill, in the heart of the Eternal City. On the horizon the Altare della Patria National Monument and the rear side of the Basilica di Santa Maria in Aracoeli, on the Capitoline Hill. Bottom center, the triumphal arch of Septimius Severus, along the Sacred Way, and the facade of the church of San Giuseppe at the Mamertine Prison, where the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul were locked up before their martyrdom. The Palatine Hill, one of the seven ancient hills of Rome, it is the place where important imperial palaces stood, such as the Domus Flavia and the Domus Augustana. In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Image in original 4:3 ratio and high definition quality.

A wide angle view of the stunning Arch of Constantine in the imperial heart of the Eternal City. The largest triumphal arch in the ancient world celebrates the victory of Emperor Constantine over the usurper Maxentius in the battle of Ponte Milvio (Milvian Bridge), which took place in 312 AD near Rome, along the Tiber river. With its 21 meters high, 25.9 meters wide and 7.9 meters deep, the Arch of Constantine is a compendium of Roman sculpture and history, with depictions and bas-reliefs concerning the gestures of the emperors Hadrian, Trajan and Marcus Aurelius. Built in masonry and marble in the core of the Roman Forum, between the imperial hill of the Palatine and the Celian hill, this sumptuous Roman monument is placed diagonally to the Flavian Amphitheater or Colosseum (right in the photo). The Roman Forums, one of the largest archaeological areas in the world, represented the political, legal, religious and economic center of the Ancient Rome, as well as the nerve center of the entire Roman civilization. In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Super wide angle and high definition image in 16:9 format.
