The Topkapı Palace or the Seraglio, is a large museum in the east of the Fatih district of Istanbul in Turkey. From the 1460s to the completion of Dolmabahçe Palace in 1856, it served as the administrative center of the Ottoman Empire, and was the main residence of its sultans until the 17th century.

The large Gate of Salutation, leads into the palace and the Second Courtyard. This crenulated gate has two large octagonal pointed towers. No one apart for official purpose and foreign dignitaries were allowed passage through the gate.

Hobyar Mosque was built by Hodja Hobyar in 1473. However, it became dilapidated in time and when the New Post Office was built, it was rebuilt by Architect Vedat Bey in a square plan with a cut corner. The mosque has a single dome and is decorated with tiles. It has nothing to do with its old structure. The mosque, which has an interior area of 150 m², has a minaret with a single balcony.
