A framed version of the Apostles’ Creed inside the pretty church of St Botolph in the village of Culpho, Suffolk, Eastern England. The church dates from the 14th century but has had much more recent sympathetic interior restoration. The Apostles’ Creed refers to the belief that each of the Twelve Apostles contributed towards its composition.

An imposing stone cross emerges majestically in the middle of a vast field of rapeseed in full bloom. The intense yellow of the flowers creates a captivating contrast with the clear, uncluttered blue of the rural sky. The cross, with its antiquity engraved in every crevice, seems to hold silent history as the rapeseed waves gently in the wind, weaving a landscape that evokes the tranquility and serenity of country life.

A special tribunal (or pie powder court) meted out justice for serious crimes at this spot, the last hanging being on 3 February 1820 when busking bagpipe player Duncan Livingstone was convicted of killing his 10-year-old assistant. The justice tree was variously known as the grief tree, gallows tree or just 'the tree'. Livingstone's body was interred beneath Rochester Castle's walls.
