The Dutch linden tree is a deciduous tree that can reach growth heights of about 40 meters and a width of about 20 meters. The slightly crooked-heart-shaped leaf is whitish to yellowish hairy on the underside in the angles of the leaf veins. Depending on the weather, flowering takes place in June to July, but always before the winter lime tree. The nuts are roundish and felt-velvety hairy. With its tuberous, irregular thickenings on old trunks, it resembles the winter linden, but the leaves are slightly larger and pale green at the bottom instead of blue-green.
