Amsterdam, the Netherlands - April 21, 2011: Large public sculpture "I Amsterdam" letters in front of Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. "I Amsterdam" is the city's current motto and marketing slogan. The letters travel throughout the city. Lots of tourists have their picture taken in front or on top of the letters. The letters are on Museumplein (English: Museum Square). At the forefront you can see part of a (usually fully filled) shallow pond.Rijksmuseum (English: State Museum) Amsterdam at the background is being restored and renovated since 2003. It will reopen in 2013. A 400 piece top collection is still on display, in an already renovated part of the museum. Two of the most famous paintings in Rijksmuseum are 'The Night Watch' by Rembrandt van Rijn, and 'The Milkmaid' by Johannes Vermeer. Besides Rijksmuseum, three other museums are located around the square: the Van Gogh Museum, the Stedelijk Museum and the Diamond Museum.

Dahlia is a flower that has been known and cultivated in Thailand for a long time. It is believed that it was imported from abroad. According to foreign documents, Dahlia originated in the highlands of Mexico and Central America.\n\nSome groups are found in South America. They are plants in the Compositae or Asteraceae family, like chrysanthemums and gerberas. Dahlias commonly cultivated are hybrids of Dahlia pinnate and Dahlia cocinea (Soraya 2001).\n\nMost Dahlias are shrubs with upright stems. The inside of the stem is hollow. Some species are vines. Dahlias commonly cultivated are tetraploid with a chromosome number of 2n=4?=64.\n\nIn foreign countries, they are popular as ornamental plants, potted plants, or cut flowers, which are becoming more popular.\n\nDahlia varieties have been improved to be cut flowers with good characteristics, namely, strong flower stalks, beautiful colored flowers, unusual shapes, and a longer lifespan.\n\nIn Europe, Dahlia grows and flowers in spring and summer. The Royal Project Foundation has imported Dahlia species from abroad to experiment with cultivation in the highlands of Thailand.\n\nIt was found that it grows and flowers in the rainy and winter seasons. Dahlias produce flowers when there are 5-7 pairs of leaves.
