Artist signed postcard by Arthur Thiele, over 100 years old. A two-seater German biplane crashes onto a farm cart causing two carthorses to bolt. Arthur Thiel's humorous postcard pokes fun at the unreliability of the very early flying machines. The invention of the aeroplane by the Wright brothers in 1903 initiated an enormous flurry of activity. In 1909, this report is recorded: 'A New German Biplane – In spite of being inconvenienced by a heavy fall of snow, two German inventors, Herr Amerigo and Herr Thiele, succeeded in getting the biplane they have built at Leipzig to make several long jumps...' Arthur Thiele died in 1915, just after the beginning of the First World War.

Joshua was the successor chosen by Moses. When Moses died, Joshua took leadership over the Israelites in the wilderness. He was the one to lead them into the land promised by God—the “Promised Land”—Canaan. He performed miracles and provided leadership. He helped them to know how to defeat the army of Jericho. Joshua sent spies into investigate. They were helped by Rahab. She hid them and then covered for them when the soldiers asked questions. When Jericho was defeated and destroyed, Rahab and her family were spared. Joshua instructed the Israelites to walk around Jericho one time each day for six days following the priests who were blowing ram’s horns. On the seventh day, Joshua told them to march around the city seven times. On the seventh time around, the walls of Jericho fell and the Israelites were victorious. After Jericho, God allowed the Israelites to prevail over other cities and to capture and kill evil kings. Joshua lived a long and successful life honoring God and leading the Israelites. They honored him when he died.
