It is home to the school's library, the largest academic law library in the world, named after pioneering law school dean Christopher C. Langdell. The Latin inscription engraved over the entrance means Not Under Man But Under God and Law.  Three Harvard Law School banners hang over the building entrance. The red banner has the Law School Shield that has the traditional Harvard Latin motto VERITAS, meaning Truth; and under it is the latin phrase LEX ET IUSTITIA, meaning Law and Justice.
