The Winona Bridge was constructed in the 1930s as part of the original Route 66 alignment. As transportation infrastructure evolved, newer and wider highways were built, rendering the Winona Bridge obsolete for modern traffic needs. Eventually, it was bypassed by a newer bridge, and Route 66 was realigned. Despite being abandoned, the Winona Bridge retains its historical significance and charm.
