Hoi An, Quang Nam province, Vietnam: Chinese temple known as the assembly hall of Fujian Chinese ('Hoi Quan Phuoc Kien') - ornate place of worship dedicated to a sea goddess - originally built in 1690 by people from Fujian (China) who moved to Hoi An, it was rebuilt in 1757 with the current architecture - Thien Hau, aka Mazu, is a Chinese sea goddess, the deified form of the legendary figure Lin Mo or Lin Moniang, a 10th century Fujianese shamaness. Revered after her death as a tutelary deity of seafarers, including fishermen and sailors, her worship spread throughout China's coastal regions and overseas Chinese communities throughout Southeast Asia and overseas.

This photograph was taken on November 16, 2023 in Hoian (Vietnam). This is the Phuc Kien Assembly. The Chinese merchants of Hoi An identified themselves by their province of origin. Each community built a meeting place to celebrate various social events or meetings. The most famous and oldest to see in Hoi An is the Phuc Kien Assembly, an old pagoda transformed into an assembly in the 18th century. It maintains its sacred character, with several altars dedicated to various Chinese gods and sea goddesses. All the decoration, architecture and gardens were made in such a way that the merchants felt in the assembly as if they were in their homeland.
