The Jumbo Floating Restaurant was an immensely popular tourist destination in Hong Kong and at times included notable guests such as Queen Elizabeth II. Unfortunately, the restaurant suspended its operations due to the coronavirus outbreak in 2020 and was eventually towed out of Hong Kong in June of 2022. To make matters worse, the floating restaurant capsized near the Paracel Islands just several days after being towed.

$The iconic Jumbo Kingdom floating restaurant at Aberdeen, a town on southwest Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. \nAberdeen is famous is famous for its floating village in the Aberdeen Harbour.$

The boat captain in this photograph most likely belongs to a class of traditional boat-dwelling/seafaring people called the Tankas. The Tanka people or boat people are an ethnic subgroup predominantly associated with southern China. Many of the Tanka people now live onshore, but some from the older generations still live on their boats.
